Mastering The Manual Tire Changer: Top Tips After 1 Year Of Use.
If you have a manual tire changer or are thinking of getting one and want to know more about them, here's my manual tire changer one year update with some thoughts & tips I've learned along the way.
With 30 tires and counting now, this little manual tire changer with the very popular duckhead modification attachment has been one of the most useful little shop tools I've purchased in a long time. It has paid for itself along with all the other accessories and consumables several times over never mind the time it has saved. With that said, it does take a little practice to get both proficient and efficient using it. Hopefully these tips will help you shorten your own learning curve and save...

    Hi John - I'm working on my R2 build, and I've noticed that while I am hand sanding and priming to dome panels, I've noticed that the larger panels no longer fit into the dome. It's almost like they have warped out of plane. Have you ever had that issue? I'm wondering if those larger panels need to be re-printed and I need to keep a better eye on them if they happen to be in the sun of longer than 10 minutes. Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!

    John, so I figured out that neither the water pump or the thermostat are leaking. I found that there is coolant on top of the cylinder head. I believe it's Bank #2 area; right rear (passenger) side of the vehicle above the drive axle. I just can't figure out what is causing the leak as all the hoses from the coolant tank are dry. Any ideas as to what could be leaking or causing the leak?

    That's a very nice "intro" but I wished you had used it and compared it to your AOYUE on some BGAs. Every time a watch a review of a hot air station with that handle and the integrated fan, it's meh. While the units with the air pump or fan in the base are regarded as superior.

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun 3 дня назад

      Well, I have found little difference in usable performance; keeping in mind, my main use of a hot-air tool as an RC hobbyist (this is an RC channel after all) is not for BGA work. In fact, never once done a BGA chip with either unit; only SMDs, SOPs and a couple QFPs (I did by the way demo an SOP on the one year follow up video: ruclips.net/video/Dy9WUtvdBUk/видео.html Other common RC related uses include heating small bearings up to soften retaining compound, expand races for fitment, soften adhesives and of course shrink heat shrink tube. For those RC applications of what I need & use mine for, both units work well, but the 858D takes up much less bench room, is quieter isn't vibrating the work surface and of course is reasonably priced. No question, either type of hot-air tool has pros & cons based on specific usage application & needs.

    The reason why you don't set the valves at TDC is the valve closes just after BDC, the intake valve closes. Both of the valves stay shut. Both valves remain shut until just before TDC of the compression stroke. Then the ACR will bleed some of the compression off. Hope this is helpful in explaining why you adjust about a 1/4" aft of TDC.
